How to Cook Mince: A Step-by-Step Guide

What You’ll Need

  • 1 carrot
  • 1 celery stalk
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon of dried basil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tablespoon of tomato paste
  • 1 cup of beef stock
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil

Step 1: Preparing the Mincemeat

1.Before cooking the mincemeat, you need to prepare it. Start by taking the mincemeat out of the packet and place it in a bowl. Use your hands to break it up into smaller pieces. If there are any large chunks of fat, remove them.

2.Once the mincemeat is broken up, season it with salt and pepper.

1.Now that the spices and tomato paste are added, pour in the beef stock.

2.Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 6: Finishing the Mincemeat

1.Once the mincemeat has cooked and the liquid has reduced, remove it from the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.

2.Your mincemeat is now ready to be used in your favourite recipes.
